Keeping Farms in our future
Over the past five years, we’ve continuously advocated for farmland conservation policies. We thank all of you who have joined these efforts!
Last year, Missoula County began a public process to develop these policies. Many of you stood up for local food by commenting and speaking at public hearings. During the 2013 Legislative Session, that process of developing solid local policies has stopped.
Instead, the Commissioners announced they would be starting a comprehensive Subdivision Regulation rewrite – and that impacts on agriculture would be included. In the last month, they’ve also announced they will be doing major revisions to the Growth Policy and the Zoning Regulations.
All of these revisions have the potential to have major impacts on the future of agriculture in our county.
